1. Choose a lotion suitable for your skin type
Different skin types have different needs for lotion. Dry skin should choose a highly moisturizing lotion, such as one containing shea butter, glycerin, or hyaluronic acid; oily or acne-prone skin is better suited to a lightweight, non-greasy lotion, such as one containing salicylic acid or tea tree oil. Sensitive skin should prioritize fragrance-free, alcohol-free, and low-irritant formulas.
2. Apply within the golden 3 minutes after showering
After showering, the skin's surface moisture evaporates quickly, leaving the stratum corneum in a slightly damp state, making it more absorbent. It is recommended to apply body lotion within 3 minutes after showering to lock in moisture and enhance hydration. If time permits, gently pat your body dry with a towel, leaving a small amount of moisture before applying lotion.
3. Application Technique Affects Absorption
The correct application method can improve the absorption efficiency of lotion. Take an appropriate amount of lotion in your palm, rub it to warm it, and then apply it evenly to the skin in circular or patting motions, especially on dry areas such as elbows, knees, and ankles. You can apply a larger amount and massage more vigorously on these areas. Avoid rubbing vigorously to prevent skin irritation.
4. Targeted Care for Different Areas
Different areas of skin have different needs. For example:
• Elbows and Knees: These areas have thicker cuticles, so use an exfoliating product before applying a thick layer of moisturizing lotion.
• Calves: These are prone to dryness and peeling in winter, so it is recommended to use a highly moisturizing lotion.
• Back: If you are prone to acne, choose a refreshing, non-comedogenic lotion.
5. Adjust usage frequency and texture according to the season
In summer, choose a light, watery lotion to avoid a sticky feeling; in winter, use a more moisturizing cream or richer lotion to combat the dry, cold climate. In air-conditioned rooms or dry environments, you can also increase the frequency of application.
6. Promote blood circulation with massage
When applying lotion, use simple massage techniques (such as lifting the skin on the legs from bottom to top) to help absorption and promote blood circulation, making the skin smoother and firmer.
7. Pay attention to expiration date and storage methods
Once opened, body lotion is generally recommended to be used within 6-12 months. Avoid prolonged exposure to high temperatures or sunlight to prevent ingredient deterioration. Before use, check the lotion for any unusual odor or separation; if present, do not continue use.
