As a core product in the skincare routine, facial serums use highly effective ingredients to target specific skin problems. However, improper use can affect absorption or lead to waste. Mastering the correct application techniques allows serums to achieve their maximum efficacy.

First, cleansing and priming are crucial. Before applying serum, ensure your face is thoroughly cleansed and apply toner or moisturizing lotion to help regulate your skin's pH level and soften the stratum corneum, creating favorable conditions for subsequent absorption. Oily skin can choose a refreshing toner, while dry skin is advised to use a moisturizing product.

Second, precise dosage and application techniques are essential. Generally, 2-3 drops of serum are sufficient to cover the entire face; excessive use may result in waste or a sticky feeling. After dotting the serum onto areas such as the forehead, cheeks, and chin, gently press with your fingertips, using lifting massage motions from the inside out and from the bottom up to promote blood circulation and ingredient penetration. Avoid the eye area to prevent irritation.

Furthermore, the order and combination of application methods are important. Serums should be applied after toner and before lotion or cream to ensure active ingredients reach the skin's deeper layers. If using multiple serums simultaneously, it's recommended to follow the principle of "lighter on first, heavier on later," for example, apply a water-based brightening serum first, then an oil-based anti-aging serum.

Finally, nighttime use yields better results. At night, skin metabolism is more active, and absorption is stronger, allowing for the layering of repairing serums (such as those containing hyaluronic acid and ceramides), and the use of a sleeping mask to lock in nutrients. When using serums during the day, always apply sunscreen to prevent UV rays from weakening the serum's antioxidant effects.

Using facial serums scientifically, combined with patience and correct application techniques, will allow your skin to truly benefit from their highly effective ingredients.
